Happy Birthday 20s - For People who were born on the twentieth day of Whichever month

Today is 20.12.2012

It is the last day of the 20s series. So happy last birthday all you 20s ...please don't read this wrong - I am not referring to 20 year old's I am wishing happy birthday to anyone who was born on the twentieth day of any month ...regardless of which year the person was born because our series of birthdays ends tonight.

So this begs the question why would I want to wish this whole multitude - happy last birthday.

Humor me for a second and look at this series of years and dates

20.01.2001
20.02.2002
20.03.2003
20.04.2004
20.05.2005
20.06.2006
20.07.2007
20.08.2008
20.09.2009
20.10.2010
20.11.2011
20.12.2012

the next series we will have like this will be the 21s ...so whoever will be blogging then ...(do you really believe there will be blogger in 21.01.2101 or on a day like today 21.12.2112 which is exactly hundred years from now.

I can't even begin to imagine what the world will be like a century from now - if you don't believe me just ask the 19s
19.01.1901 to 19.12.1912 had never seen a World War anything let alone World War one or World War two ...had never seen a bomb, had never seen cell phones or computers.
I would bet the most interesting thing that happened during those years ...and most tragic too was the sinking of the Titanic 15th April 1912. All of us had not been born then ...and if it wasn't for James Cameron movies &films, Wikipedia and multiple online sources which we have now - stuff they didn't have back then ...we would probably be a bit ignorant of what happened back then because somehow the main source of knowledge was print books which we are all having a hard time convincing our kids to read in this day and age.

So anyway my main point in this article is to celebrate life - celebrate this age you are living in because I can promise you none of us will see the next age - I don't mean the world is ending or some other silly thing like that .... oh by the way the Mayan Calender says our world should end tomorrow 21.12.2012 ....so I should probably say adios and call someone in China and Japan to find our if their world has already ended - they are in the first time zone, right?
I just mean even if you were born on 20.01.2001 it is a serious feat to see 21.01.2101 not in a bad way but just with all the atmospheric pollution, bad sedentary lifestyle (read me sitting in front of this computer screen), substance abuse - 100 years is a tough one to pull off.

So while the rest of us are celebrating life - the 20s can really party to the last day of the "Time of 20s" ....see what I mean is if you were born 20.01.1951 then 20.01.2001 was really special to you as much as it is to the kid born on 20.01.2001 and this whole decade/dozen years is a really special time for all twenties ...because next century is the century of the 21s.

And if you are feeling blue or think you have wasted your 12 years of the twenties - don't beat yourself up too much about your wrong turns - keep turning and keep walking because 21 is still 100 years away.

Here is a song by one of my favorite bands
KEANE - On a day Like Today

On a day like today
I looked at you and I
Saw something in the way
You stared into the sky
I saw you were sick
And tired of my wrong turns
If you only knew the way I feel
I'd really love to tell you

But I could never seem to say the words I needed to
On a day like today no other words would do

I saw you were sick
And tired of my wrong turns
If you only knew the way I feel
I'd really love to tell you

But I can never find the words to say and I don't know why
I can't find the words to say and I don't know why

Happy Jamuhuri Day - Yvonne Chaka Chaka Mamaland

Yvonne Chaka - Mamaland

I know it's the eve of Jamuhuri day. So just a song that reminds me how much I love my mamaland despite  disconnected leaders and politicians, displaced Kenyans, striking professionals. We need to make this land a better land.

Yvonne Chaka Chaka says it better than anyone I know.

Yvonne Chaka Chaka - Mamaland

Chorus x 3:
My mamaland
My mama

Verse 1
Who's that man, calling me stranger
In my land, my mamaland
Who's that man, telling me go
From my land, my mamaland

Chorus x 2

This is my heart where I belong
My roots are here in Africa

Bridge x4
Iwee nakupenda
Iwee mamaland

Chorus

Say we must talk, talk mama
To make this land a better land
Stop fighting mama
Stop killing for mamaland
We got to unite mama
Mama mama
This is my hometown mama
This is my land Africa

Bridge x 4

Mama mama x 4

Repeat Chorus and verses
